Raid On Aleph!

File under: Gurus Doin' Time

Jittery Japanese officials raided 11 Aleph compounds yesterday, apparently afraid the remains of the Aum Supreme Truth sect were planning a retaliation action in response to guru Shoko Asahara's pending execution. Considering Aum's last action, we can't really blame them:
Justice Minister Seiken Sugiura warned that the bearded cult founder, whose real name is Chizuo Matsumoto, still wields significant influence over the 1600-member sect...
A subway-gassing terrorist guru on death row still regarded as God by 1600 people in Japan and 350 in Russia. That is extreme gurudom.

This Japanese Guru-guy reminds me of Osama Bin Laden (Guru of the Moslems). If the Japanese have gotten him and tried him and are ready to execute him, what the hell is George Bush doing to bring Osama to the execution room?
