Guruphiliac: Sri Sri Slys To The Prize

Sri Sri Slys To The Prize

File under: The Siddhi of PR

After a successful publicity trip to Sri Lanka which overflowed with the symbolism only a white shawl could provide, Sri Sri stepped it up with a big Navratri celebration. The usual umpteenth-thousand people were reportedly there, along with some very prominently-mentioned Pakistanis:
Pakistanis were among the thousands who took part in prayers and meditation for world peace at the Navratri celebrations at the Art of Living center here.
True, that could be all of two Pakistanis... but it's the thought, (to get people thinking Sri Sri is bringing peace with Pakistan) that counts.

Hullo! Just discovered this blog. Great to know that there's some counter-ballast to the media and groupie lies-hype reg SSRS, which sickens me.

Perhaps more than SSRS as the target of such critiques, his groupie-disciples' psycho-social delinquencies need to be looked at. The key to SSRS's "success", in one word: ("disciples'") vanity!

In an age of falsehoood, sure, lots of charlatans are going to rise and rise (when they fall, few remember).

The real question is: TRUTH.

There are no purveyors of truth. That you have to find yourself. And the people who are in touch with TRUTH - have no urge to parade and publicize. They are anonymous.

Best

How about his doing without us knowing, instead of seeding the Indian press every time he wipes his nose.

Haha, Jody,

But there are lots and lots of things ole Sri Sri does and hides fastidiously from the Indian (and world) press, at all costs.

No doubt!

If you catch wind of any of it, pass it along!

You didn't get the point! The only way people not involved as volunteers or the beneficiaries can know is through media or word-of-mouth. Since you don't trust the latter, the only way you'd know is Media. And if you come to know of something through Media, you'd say "He's seeding the press every time he wipes his nose!"
And if we don't involve media, you'd say he doesn't do anything good for the society!

Doomed If You Do, and Doomed If You Don't!!!

There is one way out though. Attend the AOL Course and judge the organisation from inside. Get invlolved as a volunteer in the Service projects. You'd come to know very soon that however much money you collect amounts to nothing when you see the needs! What'd ya say?

And regarding the things he hides 'fastidiously', I'd be interested to know also if you come across any such thing. But till you actually come across such a thing, it is just a figment of your imagination! You are bound to think of everything with doubt because you have seen a lot of cheats. That's okay. But if you are so sure, I'd group you "blind haters" same category as "blind followers" :-)

But he'll always do anything that's good for Sri Sri, hence the steady stream of press releases.

To feed into the man's delusion of Rishidom?

You'd come to know very soon that however much money you collect amounts to nothing when you see the needs!

Yes, the needs of the narcissist are bottomless.

But till you actually come across such a thing, it is just a figment of your imagination!

There are plenty of comments on this blog by insiders who have seen the real Sri Sri.

But if you are so sure, I'd group you "blind haters" same category as "blind followers" :-)

With Sri Sri's avaricious id on display in the paper every other day, I'd say there's plenty for everyone to "see".

Rajesh,

You obviously don't know Ravi Shankar very well. Many of us knew him well before he was "Sri Sri". He's a fraud, liar and cheat. To quote one of his classmates from his school "he was a first class rogue and couldn't graduate". Only through persistence did we manage to get the claim that "Sri Sri" Ravi Shankar had "an advanced degree in Physics (!) taken out of the Wikepedia site on him!! He told us himself he never graduated from anything anywhere, having run off with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi when he was 17. He started his own Guru Business in Bangalore with 200 pundits. MMY refused to take his phone calls or see him after that. (conflict of interest) Many know this, because they saw "Sri sri's" grief over this.

I'm sure you are participating with sincerity in his social projects, and I'm certain that some poor people benefit. You are innocent in this mess. But please don't make claims about this man that you actually don't know very well. People on this blog site who have been insiders know him far better than you ever will, unless he decides you're his "type".

As for the money, he amassed a personal fortune and built his ashram from the money he collected before he ever did any social programs. His mother (God rest her soul) bragged once "my son has over $1 million (USD) in the bank. He is so rich. I am proud of him." His father admitted that they had problems with the revenue folks over their tax status, and had to pay people off to get rid of the problem (the usual bribes). They also acquired the ashram outside Bangalore on Kanakapura Road under false pretenses to get the land break: they were making a school for the underpriviledged in nearby villages. If you have been to that ashram, you know fully well just how much of the ashram is designated as classroom space, and how much of it is for courses for those "devotees" willing to pay to live around "Sri Sri" for a few days.

Please don't defend this arrogant, cruel and self-centered man who wants to be treated like a God. He is a charlatan. You have been duped.

I feel sorry for him, his followers, and the Indian society at large for having been taken in by him.

He will fall from this pedestal he has built for himself. Just watch. When they start coming forward, there will be no end to the disgrace.

I post this anonymously because people inside of his organization have threatened me in person, and on the telephone if I ever speak out against him. Otherwise, I would be more specific than I have been above. Many have been cowed by his threats (and his disciples') and now that he is in with the police and army, I truly am afraid of him. I value my peace of mind, which came only after leaving his rotten institution.

How do we even know he is actually nominated? According to the Nobel prize site (.org) the nominations and nominators are kept strictly secret for 50 years. Only the winners are known to the public before then. Here is the text of the quote:

Are the nominations made public?
The statutes of the Nobel Foundation restricts disclosure of information about the nominations, whether publicly or privately, until fifty years have elapsed. The restriction concerns the nominees and nominators as well as investigations and opinions in the awarding of a prize.

That's it -- I begin to wonder if this is all a big publicity stunt by the little fool and his followers.

Do the Kriya and leave Sri Sri to himself and to his followers. If others worship him, so be it! I know that the Kriya has helped me fight off colds and throat infections and I have saved about 50 times that amount I paid for the course.

At the same time I am no Guru gaga guy! Okay so a man has his fallibilities and so also with Sri Sri. Some guys have implied that he has a history and is gay. So how many of you have been saints from birth?

Some people have claimed ill-effects of kriya just as in hyper-ventillation. I did kriya for three years and did not get any ill effects. But then I did not get any amazing earth shattering results on the positive side either. I found it a mild relaxation. The kriya itself is very powerful in the beginning but if you are regular, the effects start tapering off after about six months. You leave it for some time and restart: it again feels powerful.

I find $100 and numerous hours investment to fight cold and throat infections, on the expensive side. It is not downright fleecing, but looking to all the hype created arond it, is quite dishonest. I am sure Mercks and Pfizers of the world will be sued for a fraction of such false hype created around their products.

I do not know if the hype created by Sri Sri around his techniques can technically be called "illegal" or not. For that matter I also do not know if the "amway"s and "qixtar"s are illegal or not. Frankly I do not care. A little embellishment about ones' product is inevitable for entering the market. I would not blame Sri Sri if he had to use a 'reasonable' marketing for kriya, but I get turned off when I see these grandiose claims bordering on unscrupulousness.

He has acquired tens of millions of dollars through this f***king kriya. He is the next premananda or Sai baba.
If AOL's financial accounts are scavenged, Bloody he and his crew are in jail...

When I retire, I would start my own Art of Farting (AOF). The louder and longer your fart, the better for your health. Why not if Ravi Baba can promote deep breathing, I too can promote profound loud and long farting.
