Harry Maharishi

File under: Wackadoo Gurus

The perpetual lie that TMâ„¢ sells:
Students learn to master the laws of nature through the Transcendental Meditation and TM-Sidhis Program, including Yogic Flying.
The decrepit old coot may think he's a wizard, but anyone with half a brain knows he's been pissing into a hurricane the entire time he's been trying to get his "Age of Enlightenment" scheme off the ground.

out of curiosity, do the TM'ers actually cultivate the siddhi, or do they spend time bouncing on their asses and pretend to be cultivating the siddhi? I mean I have nothing wrong with people astral travelling to the moon or back in time or whatever, so long as they acknowledge that it has as much to do with comprehending ultimate reality and "the laws of nature" as watching TV does.

Isn't TM ignoring the elephant here? Let's leave aside whether or not buying their courses could really make me a master of the laws of nature. Shouldn't the #1 question be WHY I'd need or want to be such a master?

Metaphorically... if I'm on a plane flight, why not let the pilot be the master of the plane, rather than wanting to unseat him? OK, maybe it's a little bumpy, and I start thinking that I could do a better job than the pilot. But is it really so? It's easy to imagine that I could do better, but maybe it's wishful thinking.

Whoever or whatever the master of the laws of nature is... yeah, OK, I find fault with him/her/it sometimes, and get the idea that I could do better. But hell. I take a look at the stars, the trees, the Grand Canyon, Yosemite... and realize that I can hardly cook pasta right... and sometimes I think I'd better just leave the laws of nature to whatever master has been running things so far, while I mind my own damn business.
